Things To Look Out For Before Renting a Home

There are some key things to look out for before renting a home and they should never be overlooked. In this article, we will be sharing some of these things. Moreover, you could use this article as a reference point, when you are viewing houses. Additionally, it will also help you ask all the right questions.

Plumbing:

Firstly, during a viewing ensure you check all the plumbing within the house. Moreover, ensure there are no leaking taps, pipes or any other issues with the water sources in that house. Additionally, test out all the toilets to ensure they are flushing correctly. Furthermore, you can also check for any cracks in the sinks and toilets.

Walls, Floors and Ceilings:

Any cracks in the walls, ceilings or floors is unacceptable. Additionally, any moisture in the ceiling that could lead to a mold outbreak, should not be overlooked. Moreover, this simply indicates that the landlord has neglected the general maintenance of the property. Furthermore, you do not want to deal with such a landlord.

Appliances:

Thirdly, if you are viewing a property that has inbuilt appliances such as a stove for instance, ensure it is fully functional. Additionally, if the rental property is fully or semi furnished with a fridge or dishwasher, check all functions and test out to avoid future inconveniences.

Lights and Electricity:

All lights, light switches, sockets etc, should be fully operational and do not move into a house that has electrical issues. Although, you may be viewing during the day, because of the natural light, testing out the lights may be overlooked but always remember to do so. Furthermore, if you discover any sockets that are not properly installed or hanging out of the wall, do not consider that property.
