How to Make Your Home Pet Friendly

How to Make Your Home Pet Friendly

Our fury friends deserve a good home and a sanctuary just as much as we do. If you own a pet or are looking to get a pet, this article may be helpful. In this article, we will be sharing some much needed information on how to make your home pet friendly.

Tiled Flooring

Ceramic tile as well as many other tiles are usually the most ideal option if you have pets. Tiles are scratch proof, therefore, your pets will not scratch your floors, unlike wooden flooring. Furthermore, pets are prone to intense shedding, tiles do not catch their fur/hair like carpet flooring.

Keep Your Home Clean

With pets make sure you have a good vacuum cleaner at your disposal. Moreover, you need to make sure that you are cleaning your home on a daily basis. However, vacuuming can take place two to three times a week. Additionally, our fury friends attract quite a lot of insects/bugs, so make sure you are also keeping your home clean for your loved ones.

Avoid Light Coloured Furniture

Do not under any circumstances purchase light coloured furniture if you have a pet. Pets shed a lot so you need to avoid lighter colours as the fur can make your space look untidy and you will be constantly cleaning. Additionally, try dark furniture with a material that does not collect fur such as leather.

Remove Harsh Household Chemicals

Fourthly, harsh chemicals such as household detergents, cleaners etc, should be kept a good distance from animals. Therefore, try natural cleaning remedies or ‘green’ friendly cleaning products.

Keep Pet Beds & Areas Clean

Lastly, wash and disinfect the beds and areas your pets normally rest in clean. This is important as it can prevent them from collecting tics or other bugs that may harm them.
